This is a story about 'máničky' – boys who had long hair and listened to rock music. The story takes place during the era of real socialism, which was not exactly easy for 'máničky' as they didn't quite align with the communists. If you, like the author, grew up in the shadow of the previous regime, this book will be a return to your youth. The younger generation, on the other hand, will get a glimpse into the world their parents grew up in.
The characters and events in the book are significantly inspired by the author's own life experiences. The author's aim was to faithfully capture the spirit of the time and offer a look at lives that were often similar to those experienced by the heroes of this book. The book tells a story of the desire for freedom and rock music from the perspective of a young 'mánička' in a time when both freedom and rock were considered enemies of the state.
A word from the author: “I would like to dedicate this book to those who cannot read it because they are no longer with us. I also want to thank my daughter, who convinced me to write this book and contributed to its final form.”
