The Reolink NVS16 network recorder is used to store and manage video recordings from Reolink security cameras. The device processes the video signal from connected IP cameras and saves it to internal hard drives. The network recorder processes data 24/7 in continuous mode or based on motion detection. It supports simultaneous recording from up to 16 IP cameras at once, giving users constant surveillance of the monitored area without complex setup. The recorder functions as a standalone desktop unit and works exclusively with cameras from the same manufacturer.

NVR storage capacity
The recorder has two SATA hard drive slots for storing recordings. The manufacturer has pre-installed a 4TB hard drive, hardware model N6MB01, in one of the bays. You can expand the total storage capacity up to 12TB by fitting both bays with hard drives up to 6TB each. The device saves video recordings in a loop, which means it automatically overwrites the oldest data with new footage once the storage is full.
PoE technology
Digital signal transmission and camera power are handled by a single Ethernet cable. The recorder has 16 RJ-45 ports with support for the IEEE 802.3 af/at PoE standard. Each port provides a maximum of 25W. This system significantly simplifies the physical installation of cameras on the property and reduces the amount of power cabling required, as there is no need to install separate sockets near the cameras.
Recording to the network recorder
The device supports high-resolution recording up to 16MP and is compatible with cameras from 4MP resolution upwards. Video compression uses modern H.265 and H.264 codecs. The saving on hard drive space results in a longer overall retention period for video recordings without losing important image details. Users can record continuously 24/7 or set recording to trigger only upon motion detection.
Connectivity options
HDMI and VGA graphic interfaces are available for viewing video footage. You can connect a monitor or television to the recorder to watch live feeds directly at the installation site. The rear panel also includes two USB 2.0 ports and one Cinch RCA audio output for sound transmission. A single self-adaptive 10/100Mbps RJ-45 port provides a network connection to a local LAN or the WAN internet, complementing the 16 PoE ports for the cameras.
Remote access
The entire system is managed via the Reolink App for mobile, the Reolink Client desktop software, or a standard web interface. Users can watch live feeds and previously captured recordings from anywhere with an internet connection. The system sends instant email or mobile phone notifications upon motion detection. Parameter settings and user account management are available after logging into the network on Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS operating systems. The device comes as a desktop unit in black and has a total weight of 2.4kg.
