Sexuality in sport

This is the first publication to focus on sexuality in sport, based on scientific research conducted in the Czech Republic. The key topics include the athlete–coach relationship and sexuality, the risks of grooming, the concept of 'NO means NO', moral panic, and sporting scandals. The text openly describes the risks of sexuality in the sports environment and presents expert findings and stories from athletes in the Czech Republic and around the world who have been confronted with inappropriate sexual behaviour and sexual harassment. The stories are drawn from the media and are accompanied by expert analysis. The publication offers specific procedures on how to approach risky situations related to sexuality – the 'Ten Commandments of Safety in Sport' and safeguarding, with recommendations for coaching practice and the policies of sports associations. Questions for reflection and discussion at the end of each chapter allow for clarification of opinions and stances on specific topics in the field of sexuality in sport.
