Skoda factories under the Southern Cross
This beautifully presented publication tells the story of 61 steam locomotives built at the Škoda Works in Plzeň and exported in 1932, 1938 and 1949 to Southern Africa and South America. Author Svatopluk Šlechta follows in their tracks to South Africa, Zimbabwe, Colombia, Argentina and Brazil, effortlessly weaving together railway history with travel experiences and encounters with witnesses to the past. The book is accompanied by unique photographs, archive documents, and a clear overview of the data for each locomotive.
