Sweet dreams

The town of Twisted Tree is shaken by a series of murders and, at the same time, several children disappear. A ghost appears on the streets – Father Mlčoch. When the police finally find his 'house of horrors', they discover the remains of previous victims and the bodies of the missing children, except for one, who manages to escape… Father Mlčoch is captured and from that moment on, never speaks again…

Almost twenty years later, he is sentenced to death and executed at exactly midnight. The following morning, however, the detective who arrested Mlčoch years ago is found dead along with his wife. It seems a new serial killer who calls himself the Outcast is responsible for the murder.

Tess Claibourne, the murdered detective's daughter, has followed in her father's footsteps and is now a respected police inspector. Although she appears fearless at first glance, the incomprehensible death of her parents shakes her. Could the whole incident be connected to a mysterious cult whose members wear animal masks and blindly worship the legacy of Father Mlčoch?

And then the Outcast kidnaps Tess's daughter. The search for her daughter and her parents' killer leads Tess back to her hometown of Twisted Tree, where she visits the boy who escaped from the 'house of horrors' and is now, as an adult, interned in an asylum for the mentally ill. What does he have in common with the Outcast and what other secrets will he help them uncover?
