The Synology DS1825+ network storage is designed for centralised data storage, backup and sharing in homes and businesses. This desktop tower device can hold up to eight hard drives or SSDs and offers an interface to speed up data transfer on your local network. The integrated DiskStation Manager operating system provides a wide range of applications, from a private cloud to camera system management. Users can expand the basic storage capacity up to 432TB of raw space with expansion units. The AMD Ryzen V1500B processor and 8GB of DDR4 RAM ensure all installed applications run smoothly.

Fast network connection
The device has two built-in 2.5Gb/s network ports for the smooth transfer of large data volumes. The system achieves read speeds of up to 2239Mb/s and write speeds of up to 1573Mb/s. You can optionally install an add-on network card in the PCIe slot to increase the speed to up to 25Gb/s. This allows users to adapt the network infrastructure to the growing demands of their business.
Flexible drive configuration and efficient backup
The basic configuration offers eight bays for hard drives or SSDs with a SATA interface. Two dedicated M.2 NVMe slots are used to create a fast cache or separate volumes. Users can take advantage of support for Synology Hybrid RAID, RAID 1, RAID 5, RAID 6 and RAID 10 to protect data from hardware failure. Expansion units increase the total capacity to up to 432TB. The system includes tools for automatic backup of computers, mobile phones and cloud services. The Snapshot Replication feature creates immutable snapshots of shared folders to protect against ransomware. Users can synchronise data directly to public cloud storage or remote servers. This approach helps to meet the 3-2-1 backup rule.
Advanced surveillance system, virtualisation and testing environment
The integrated Surveillance Station application serves as a professional system for video management and property security. The device can handle up to 40 IP cameras with the ability to monitor live and play back recordings. The system also supports dual recording to the secure cloud in case the local storage is damaged. The hardware platform, with its AMD Ryzen V1500B processor and 8GB of RAM, provides the foundation for running virtual machines. Docker container support simplifies the deployment of microservices and developer applications. The Virtual Machine Manager tool runs various operating systems directly on the network storage. The isolated Virtual DSM environment then provides a safe space for testing software without affecting the main system.
Centralised management and monitoring
The Central Management System tool unifies the configuration and updates of multiple devices from a single location. The Active Insight cloud service monitors the status of storage devices around the world in real time. The system detects anomalies in logins, hardware load or backup tasks in a timely manner. This gives administrators an immediate overview of the health of the entire infrastructure.
