The Synology DX525 Expansion Unit enables seamless expansion of DiskStation capacity by adding five additional bays for 2.5" or 3.5" SATA drives. The unit supports plug-and-play installation and on-the-fly disk swapping, which ensures uninterrupted operation during storage expansion. Once mounted, the new positions are immediately available under DiskStation Manager (DSM) management, allowing for continuous volume expansion without downtime. The DX525 also serves as a dedicated local backup solution. When configured as an independent volume, it secures data from the master device by creating an isolated backup. Combined with Synology drives that are specifically designed for these systems, it ensures consistent performance and high operational reliability.
