The Synology RS422+ is a compact 1U rackmount network storage device for centralised data management, file sharing, and backup. The device holds four SATA hard drives or SSDs and is powered by a dual-core AMD Ryzen R1600 processor. The integrated 2GB of DDR4 RAM with ECC error correction prevents accidental data corruption and maintains system stability under heavy load. Network connectivity is provided by two gigabit LAN ports, which can be upgraded to 10GbE using an optional module.

Space-saving design

This type of chassis makes installation in confined spaces easier without the need to purchase expensive mounting rails. Flexible network interface
The two built-in gigabit RJ-45 ports support network failover and load balancing for stable network operation. Users can upgrade to 10Gb speeds at any time by inserting an E10G22-T1-Mini expansion module into the available PCIe Gen3 ×2 slot. This speeds up large file transfers on the local network and increases overall throughput.
Centralised management
DiskStation Manager includes comprehensive tools for organising data and managing user permissions. Users can sync files across different platforms and access them via a web interface or mobile apps. The integrated Synology Drive service facilitates real-time document collaboration and enhances team efficiency.
Backup and data protection
Active Backup for Business centralises backups from Windows and Linux computers, and VMware or Hyper-V virtual machines, all in one place. The system creates regular snapshots of shared folders with a minimum RPO of five minutes for rapid data recovery. The Hyper Backup tool performs encrypted backups of folders, applications, and system configurations to external USB drives, remote servers, or cloud storage.
Surveillance system
Surveillance Station serves as a complete NVR for IP cameras at home or in the office. The device supports up to forty cameras from a selection of over 8300 verified IP cameras on the market. Users can watch live feeds and recordings via a web browser, desktop client, or the DS cam mobile app. The system stores recordings directly on local drives with AES-256 encryption.
Hybrid cloud storage
Hybrid Share combines local capacity with Synology C2 cloud storage for storing large data sets. The system keeps frequently used files in a local cache for instant access at LAN speeds. Other, less-used data is downloaded from the cloud on demand, saving local storage capacity. Manually pinning selected files prevents them from being deleted when the cache becomes full.
