Wi-Fi connectivity and speed
The device operates on two frequency bands, ensuring smooth data transfer without unnecessary performance fluctuations. In the 2.4GHz band, it reaches speeds of up to 600Mbps, while the 5GHz band provides a high transfer rate. The wireless network uses advanced 2×2 MIMO antenna configurations for the 2.4GHz band and 4×4 MIMO for the 5GHz band. Support for the 5.9GHz band and the Smart Connect feature, which automatically directs connected devices to the most suitable band with a strong signal, help to optimise wireless traffic.
Mesh and coverage
This model makes it easy to create a stable mesh network by connecting it with other Synology routers under a single network name. The system supports 802.11k/v/r seamless roaming standards for a smooth transition between access points without signal dropouts. In wireless mode, you can link one primary point with up to 6 other units; with a wired connection, the capacity increases to 12 units. The system can serve over 150 simultaneously connected active devices.
Security and parental controls
A wide range of encryption standards, including the WPA3 protocol, ensures data protection. The integrated Safe Access package offers advanced options for creating user profiles, web filtering, and monitoring network activity in real time. Users can easily set time quotas for internet access on selected devices. Security features include: WPA, WPA2, WPA3, and WPA/WPA2-Enterprise encryption, an integrated firewall and DoS attack protection, VPN Plus Server with support for OpenVPN, SSTP, and L2TP/IPSec protocols, and an auto-block function with two-factor authentication.
Connectivity
A set of Ethernet ports with dedicated bandwidth provides the physical connection to the external network and end devices. A single high-speed 2.5GbE port is available, which can be configured as either a WAN or LAN interface. The wired connectivity is complemented by a dedicated gigabit WAN port and three gigabit LAN ports for stable connections to desktop computers or network storage. For connecting external drives or printers, there is a fast USB 3.2 Gen 1 port with a power output.
