The Dark Side of the Sun
Terry Pratchett's forgotten gem in a new light for the first time
The book is one of Terry Pratchett's early and often overlooked novels—yet it already pulses with everything that makes his work so exceptional. An ironic perspective on humanity and its institutions, a playful handling of logic and absurdity, and the belief that reason is both a salvation and a threat. First published in 1981, the book straddles the line between classic sci-fi and philosophical allegory and has drawn comparisons to The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
The story of young Dom Sabalos, heir to the richest family in the Galaxy, is both a detective story and a metaphysical journey of discovery. According to all probability calculations, he is the one destined to uncover the greatest secret of the universe—and perhaps what lies on its dark side.
