The golden pharaoh's deception
A single day is worth an eternity, a single hour can change the future
You can find all sorts of treasures in an old attic. But when builders discover an old diary in the house of a young Egyptian woman with Czech roots, an unprecedented uproar erupts in Cairo. People are disappearing under strange circumstances, and someone has an enormous interest in making sure the young woman never reads the diary of her great-grandfather – a Czech archaeology enthusiast named Eduard. What is the secret behind Eduard's friendship with the famous Howard Carter? Is the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb really the greatest discovery of the century? And hasn't the golden pharaoh, by pure chance, become the subject of one of the greatest hoaxes in history?
Petra Klabouchová
Petra Klabouchová comes from Husinec in South Bohemia, a place that has always been favourable to revolutionary ideas. After studying journalism and psychology at Masaryk University in Brno, she began to write. She developed her literary talent as a manager for rock bands while travelling throughout Europe and the USA. She captured these wild and loud years in her book Na plný koule. Her literary repertoire also includes the fun and child-friendly Upíří storky (Vampire Tales), a look into the eighties in Poslední kubánské pomeranče (The Last Cuban Oranges), an excursion into the legacy of ancient Egypt in Podvod zlatého faraona (The Golden Pharaoh's Hoax), and the psychological crime thriller Anglická zahrada (The English Garden). She gained the most significant attention for her detective novel Prameny Vltavy (Sources of the Vltava), about the evil springing from the depths of the writer's native region. She also tells a story of crime shrouded in decades of silence in her book U severní zdi (At the North Wall).
