The last death of the year
Death among New Year's resolutions
Hercule Poirot and a murder committed as a New Year's resolution... The famous Belgian and his friend Inspector Edward Catchpool arrive on the small Greek island of Lamperos to say goodbye to 1932 and welcome the next year. They will find themselves in a rather peculiar community of residents of a local villa. A seemingly innocent game will become part of the New Year's Eve celebrations: each guest has to anonymously write down their New Year's resolution and then we'll argue about whose is whose. One note, however, states that the writer will carry out "the last and first death of the year," and names the victim of his intended act. And despite the presence of the most brilliant detective of all time...

Sophie Hannah
Sophie Hannah is a successful British poet, nominated for the T. S. Eliot, and above all a novelist whose novels have been published in 32 languages and 51 countries. She is the author of several books for children, but it is her psychothrillers that have earned her an international reputation. She made her debut in the genre in 2006 with Little Face, which immediately sold more than 100,000 copies and featured the first appearances of detectives Simon Waterhouse and Charlie Zailer. The novel The Carrier, the eighth title in a loose series featuring the pair, who also appear in Losses and Lies (Hurting Distance 2007, Czech: Ikar 2015), won the 2013 British National Book Award for Best Thriller of the Year. However, the literary bombshell and book event of 2014 was the publication of Sophie Hannah's novel The Monogram Murders, which was simultaneously published in 28 languages in 50 countries. In it, Agatha Christie's most famous "Queen of Crime" character, the legendary Belgian stickler Hercule Poirot, returns for the first (and presumably not the last) time in a new story, courtesy of his heirs.
