The Last Lady B

A witty and sensual novel, set in the early 19th century in the Scottish Highlands, full of twists and turns.

In the harsh winter, Lady Genevieve Burnsby, her pet piglet, and her seventy-year-old husband travel to a remote abbey in the Scottish Highlands, which is said to be haunted. Evie eagerly anticipates an encounter with ghosts, but she doesn't expect the entertaining, eccentric guests or that they will become the friends she never had. She certainly never imagines she will meet Sir Godric Everly, a cynical and witty lawyer who despises her husband. And when secrets and lies turn Evie's life upside down, Sir Godric becomes the only person she can trust. Ghosts, several last wills, and a shocking marriage certificate suddenly bring Lord Burnsby's past to light. But then Burnsby dies, and Evie is free to remarry. However, the virginal wife, now a virginal widow, is more afraid of the marriage bed than of a ghostly visitor. More importantly, she must figure out whose identity is false, whose promises are lies, whose truths could destroy her honour – and who holds her heart.
