The last second-hand bookshop in the world
Lukáš has spent his entire life surrounded by books. They were his reason for living, an escape to other worlds, his dream, and his livelihood. But today, he feels as if there isn't enough paper left for his own story. And that maybe it was a mistake to sacrifice his whole life to the world of books.
That's why he has decided that today, his bookshop in Prague's Holešovice will close for good. The last customers are arriving, books are disappearing from the shelves, and the day is passing more quickly than he would like. As he locks the door of his shop in the evening, he's convinced that a new chapter of his life will begin tomorrow.
But tomorrow never comes.
Lukáš wakes up again on the floor of his bookshop. And then again. And again. He relives the same day over and over. The same conversations repeat. The whole world continues according to a familiar script, while he is the only one who knows he has been through it all before.
The endless repetition gradually gives him something he has longed for his whole life, without ever being able to admit it. Time to get to know people again, to discover his city, and to right his wrongs. And, of course, to read the books he had been saving for later, even if they bring unexpected visitors with them.
The last bookshop in the world is a novel about books, stories, and people who are stuck somewhere between the past and the future. It's a story about lost dreams, second chances, and how sometimes we need an entire infinite lifetime to finally start truly living.
