The return of Ellie

Seventeen-year-old Ellie walked out of a motel room more than two years ago and vanished without a trace. Until one day she appears on a hiking trail in the middle of a forest. Wasted away, but alive…

Detective Chelsey Calhoun lost her sister fifteen years ago, and since then has been searching for answers, closure, and other missing girls. When an emaciated and bloody Ellie Black, who has been missing for over two years, appears in the forests of Washington, Chelsey dares to hope that some stories might just have a happy ending after all.

But something isn't right with Ellie, and her return ultimately raises more questions than answers. Where was she for two whole years? Is Ellie's reappearance a happy ending, or just a sinister prelude? Chelsey must uncover what happened on her own, delving into the uncharted depths of a complicated case. For herself, for Ellie, for her sister, and for the other women who could suffer a similar fate. Because not all abducted girls find their way back home…
