This water is ours

Bubeneč and Dejvice are generally peaceful Prague districts, until a problem with the drinking water supply occurs. Then strange things begin to happen: May does not end and June does not arrive, a silver line that cannot be removed appears on the previously invisible border between the two districts, the water stops flowing, and hostility grows. The Club of Friends of Old Dejvice gets involved in the events, along with a trio of friends from Bubeneč with names pronounced backwards, an architect searching for an underground city and his girlfriend from the Riviéra arcade. Professor Hlístek comments on it all from the radio with his characteristic wit, and old Mrs Rukavičková observes everything closely on the spot with her dog Boxík. What is happening underground? Where is the water? And which water is it anyway? And whose water is it?

After her debut about glaciers and parallel worlds, entitled Pohyby ledu (Ice Movements), A. Gravensteen takes readers to the similarly exotic territory of Prague 6. This multi-layered novel will especially delight readers with a weakness for polished style and literary mischief.
