Too clear a perpetrator
A murder with three eyewitnesses. But one of them doesn't believe what he's seen...
The picturesque seaside town of Whitby is famous for its gothic music festival, which Louise Oldroyd and a group of friends decide to attend this year. However, their visit to the escape game ends in a bloody murder. One of the group members stabs his girlfriend in front of the others and flees the scene.
Although Louise has seen everything with her own eyes, she can't help but have her doubts. And who else should she confide in but her father, a police chief inspector famous for solving the most baffling cases?
And so Detective Jim Oldroyd, along with Sergeant Stephanie Johnson, ventures outside their own jurisdiction to protect their daughter... and more. The daring killer is still at large and Oldroyd must uncover the truth before it's too late. Because this time it's personal.
A classic English mystery in the style of books by modern masters of the genre such as Ann Granger, Caroline Graham and Louise Penny.
J. R. Ellis
J. R. Ellis came from a working-class family, but that didn't stop him from going to Oxford University and becoming a teacher. He has always been interested in mysteries, the supernatural and unsolved crimes, and during his cantorial years he wrote children's plays and ghost stories. However, he did not begin to devote himself fully to his work until his retirement. His Murder in Yorkshire series is intrinsically linked to the county where Ellis lives. He was inspired by the mystery novels of Agatha Christie and John Dickson Carr, in the style of the locked room mysteries, or the Jonathan Creek series. He believes that for detective novels it is not only important who committed the crime, but also how they did it. Although he writes about murder, he avoids overly brutal scenes, preferring to emphasize a light style, elements of humor, and a well thought-out plot.
