Travel to 1950s New Orleans! A reissue of the second novel by Ruta Sepetys.
The year is 1950. The French Quarter of New Orleans is simmering with secrets, and seventeen-year-old Josie Moraine has to find a way not to get burnt. To the locals, she's known only as the daughter of a prostitute, but she wants much more than the city can offer. She devises a plan to break free from its grasp, but a mysterious death in the Quarter entangles her in a dangerous investigation. Josie finds herself on the edge, caught between her dream of university and the grime of the underworld. Can she stand on her own two feet and make all her dreams come true?
