The TP-Link VIGI NVR1008H network recorder is designed for recording, storing and managing footage from IP camera systems in continuous operation. This desktop device connects up to 8 cameras and supports a recording resolution of 8MP, which corresponds to 3840 × 2160 pixels. Users can watch live video and stored recordings remotely via a mobile app on Android and iOS phones. You can also access the recorder's administration and settings through Chrome version 57+, Firefox version 52+, or Edge version 91+ web browsers. The recorder is ONVIF compliant for wide compatibility with cameras from different manufacturers, making it easy to integrate into existing systems. It supports network protocols such as TCP/IP, DHCP, IPv4, IPv6, and NTP.

High image resolution
The network recorder supports 4K video output via the HDMI interface, providing a detailed view of monitored areas on compatible display devices. A standard VGA output is also available for connecting older monitors with a resolution of up to 1920 × 1080 pixels at 60Hz. Users can use the simultaneous output on both ports for parallel viewing on two independent screens. The HDMI output supports a resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels at 30Hz, which contributes to smooth viewing of the recorded scene.
Efficient encoding
H.265+, H.265, H.264+ and H.264 compression technologies significantly reduce the demands on hard drive capacity and local network bandwidth. This standard maintains high image quality with smaller resulting file sizes, which extends the recording retention time. The device handles an incoming data stream of up to 80Mb/s and an outgoing data stream on the video output of 60Mb/s. Saving disc space allows for longer data archiving without the need to frequently overwrite older recordings.
Channel decoding
The recorder decodes up to eight 2MP channels at 25fps for a smooth display of all connected cameras. Alternatively, it can process four 4MP channels at 25fps or two 8MP channels at 25fps. The system supports synchronous playback from all eight channels at once, making it easy to quickly search for specific events in the recorded footage. The total decoding capacity adapts to the set resolution of the individual cameras.
Management
System initialisation is a simple one-step process that includes entering user data, initialising the hard drive, and finding available cameras on the network. This procedure reduces the time required to configure the entire camera system on first start-up. The recorder supports one SATA hard drive with a capacity of up to 16TB. The device includes one slot for a 2.5" or 3.5" hard drive for local data storage.
Connectivity options
The rear panel includes one 10/100Mb/s RJ-45 network port for a stable connection to the local network and communication with the cameras. Two USB 2.0 ports are used for connecting a computer mouse to control the interface and for connecting external backup media. For audio transmission, the recorder uses one RCA audio input and one RCA audio output, which supplement the video recording with a sound track. Power is supplied by an external DC 12V/1.5A power adapter, and consumption without a drive is 3.78W.
