The Ubiquiti UniFi Pro 4 network storage serves to centralise and securely share data on corporate networks. Its 1U rack-mounted design accommodates four hard drives and two SSDs to speed up file access. The device supports high-speed 10Gbps network connectivity via an SFP+ optical interface and offers the option of redundant power. The SGCC steel chassis protects the internal components from external damage and helps to dissipate heat during continuous operation in a server room. The device runs on the UniFi operating system, which integrates storage management directly into the existing network architecture.
Storage space consists of four bays for 2.5" or 3.5" hard drives with a SATA interface. These are complemented by two slots for fast M.2 NVMe SSDs, which serve to accelerate the SSD cache to reduce access latency. The total supported capacity for each NVMe drive is 4TiB. The total power budget for all installed drives is 125W, which helps maintain stable operation even when all drive bays are fully loaded.
Fast communication with the surrounding network is provided by two 10Gbps SFP+ optical ports and one classic 1Gbps RJ45 ethernet port. The network ports facilitate the transfer of large data volumes within the corporate infrastructure. For wireless setup and initial configuration, the device includes an integrated Bluetooth 4.1 interface. Cross-platform file sharing is handled by the standardised NFS, SMB, and CIFS network protocols.
At the heart of the system is a quad-core ARM Cortex-A57 processor running at 2GHz. The system RAM processes all concurrent system operations and requests from connected users. To protect against data loss in the event of hardware failure, users can configure the drives in RAID 5, RAID 6, or RAID 10 arrays. This configuration helps maintain operational continuity even if one of the installed hard drives physically fails.
The operating system supports advanced features for creating regular system snapshots and scheduling automatic backups. All stored data can be encrypted directly at the file system level to prevent unauthorised access. Users can take advantage of direct backups to remote servers via CIFS and SMB protocols or to cloud services such as Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Amazon S3. There is also support for Time Machine backups from Apple computers.
The SGCC steel metal chassis meets the standards for mounting in 1U rack cabinets. Power is supplied by an internal 150W power supply with a universal input voltage of 100 to 240V. For increased reliability, the rear panel includes a connector for a USP-RPS DC backup system. The 6.7kg device operates reliably in a temperature range of -5°C to 40°C with non-condensing air humidity from 5% to 95%.
