Unnecessary mystery - the death of Jan Masaryk
The death of Jan Masaryk is one of our most debated mysteries. Yet, it is a completely unnecessary mystery. Jan Masaryk died suddenly at a time when the Communists were seizing power. They immediately labelled his death a suicide, and the public did not believe them. "They are lying to us because they have a hand in it, so they must have murdered him." This logical conclusion became a trap for many years. As soon as the investigation was reopened, "witnesses" appeared. Some wanted to be famous and interesting. Others wanted to help the supposed truth through fabricated testimonies. The tragic event acted as a perfect generator of nonsense. Let's, therefore, go through the available records, testimonies, and all the theories together. We will check their credibility and set aside the fabrications. From what is left, we might be able to piece together a tragic, yet human and, above all, believable story of the most famous unexplained death in our history.
