Voices of Crime: 14 stories
The hugely popular podcast by journalists Jakub Kvasnička and Václav Janata, Hlasy zločinu (Voices of Crime), is releasing its second book. This one contains 14 stories, one more than the first. You'll find out who the phantom of Czech crime in the nineties was and why Ivan Jonák accused him of murdering his wife. You will go to prison to meet the longest-serving Czech inmate, Zdeněk Vocásek, and witness the biggest (and certainly the most bizarre) theft in our history – the perpetrators walked away with Picasso paintings of incredible value. You will be reminded of the sad fate of Franta Sahula, a member of the legendary band Tři sestry. You will get inside the minds of some of the worst mass murderers, such as Zdeněk Konopka, the crazed gunman Ctirad Vitásek, the Orlík gang's executioner Ludvík Černý, the strange American Kevin Dahlgren, or the job centre killer Jiří Dvořák, who hated women. You will learn about the absurd systemic failures that made the killings possible. And you'll even get a glimpse into the incredible world of Viktor Kožený, who most likely robbed someone in your family too.
