White Mountain: everything you wanted to know about it

Do you think you know the story of the White Mountain?
When we tell its story, we can complain about the incompetent, quarrelsome, and irresponsible Czech politicians and the treacherous foreigners.
About the incompetent king and the one who was capable of anything.
We can show early modern warfare in all its brutality – with hunger, fear, the fervour of war and religion, and the typhus that wiped out entire armies.
And we can get fired up about the common affliction of politicians of every era: we want results, but we don't want to spend a penny.
But we can also watch, read, try to understand, and enjoy the action-packed story that has everything a proper thriller should have: villains and heroes, despair and visions of a beautiful future.
And hundreds of years of the White Mountain myth, which has shaped how we perceive an entire epoch of our history, and how we perceive ourselves as Czechs.
