The book is about Romania before the Second World War, and about the Royal Romanian Army in Czechoslovakia during the Second World War, when over 33,000 Romanian soldiers died during the liberation of Czechoslovakia.
This sacrifice, which the Romanians made during the liberation of Czechoslovakia, is often forgotten.
This book is also about Romania's non-participation in the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia by the Warsaw Pact troops.
At the time, Romania refused to participate in the Warsaw Pact invasion of our territory and played no part in the subsequent 22-year occupation of our country by the Soviet Union's troops!
After the fall of socialism, the Romanians made huge economic progress. Much more significant than, for example, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The book is also about the view of many Romanians on Moldova, which they see as just a Russified piece of Romania, occupied by the Soviet Union and later by the “state of Moldova” since 1820.
It is also true that in the western countries of the European Union, but also here, Romanian citizens are perceived as “primitive and unmodern”, as second-class citizens.
Please just realise that this is how they perceive us in the West as well. We try to belong to the West, but we are not perceived as such by Western politicians or citizens. And we do not yet have enough honesty in ourselves to admit it.
About 5 million Romanians work and live abroad, the reason being poverty and hardship at home. Romania's wealth alternates with beautiful natural landscapes and places of considerable lack of prosperity in this country.
Romanians essentially want any change. The parties that have been in power so far have done little for the people of Romania, apart from stealing property and lining their own pockets.
