The past can drag you down. The fifth instalment of the bestselling series.
In the fishing village of Hovenäset, preparations for August and Maria's wedding are in full swing. However, instead of joyful anticipation, dark clouds are beginning to gather over their future. August is determined to uncover a long-forgotten family secret, while Maria is receiving disturbing anonymous messages. Someone is watching her. Are the threats related to one of her old police cases? When a gruesome discovery is made on a nearby island, a dramatic investigation is launched. And it soon becomes clear that the truth should have remained buried...
What they wrote about the book:
The August Strindberg series is built on solid foundations: a likeable and reliable protagonist, a precisely measured dose of relationship tribulations, and a generous portion of cosiness within a suspenseful story.
- Göteborgs-Posten, Sweden
In a world that often feels bleak today, returning to August Strindberg and Hovenäset is like a warm hug. The murders and suspense add another dimension to the stories, but the real driving force is the setting and the characters. Kristina Ohlsson herself says that she writes fairy tales for adults – and that's exactly the feeling the reader gets from this series.
