Compensatory exercises for athletes
Corrective Exercises as the Foundation of Healthy and Effective Training
Every sport brings not only benefits, but also the risks of unilateral strain. Some
muscles and movement segments are exposed to great stress, while others remain
without sufficient activation. The result can be pain, limited performance or
unnecessary injuries. Corrective exercises are therefore an essential part of
sports preparation at all performance levels.
The book contains more than 30 chapters dedicated to different sports,
in which the muscle groups under strain and typical injuries are described, along with a proposal
for a sample corrective unit for the given discipline. Athletes can then create
similar corrective units using the recommended parts
of the Alphabet of Exercises, which contains a clear and practical overview of more than
120 corrective exercises, including their detailed description, warnings on what
to watch out for during the exercise, and photographs of the correct form.
This publication is intended for coaches, physiotherapists, physical education teachers,
performance and recreational athletes, and parents of young athletes. It is
a valuable guide for all who want to play sports in a healthy way, prevent
problems with the musculoskeletal system, and stay active for as long as possible.
