A chilling Icelandic thriller that brings together the best of the Nordic crime tradition – a rugged landscape, a mysterious case, and a tormented, seasoned detective!

Former Reykjavík detective Guðgeir Fransson flees to the sleepy town of Höfn in eastern Iceland, where he works as a night watchman. After the tragic death of a colleague, both his career and his life fell apart, and now he is trying to piece his life back together in a small town in the middle of the wilderness.

When a mysterious stranger appears in the tight-knit community in the middle of a freezing winter and then vanishes without a trace, Guðgeir's detective instincts, honed over thirty years, are stirred. How did she get here and why can no one remember her?

With the help of a former colleague from Reykjavík, he embarks on an investigation that draws him into a mystery far more extensive than he could ever have imagined. The ambiguous case grows, and the disappearance of the unknown woman soon seems like a drop in the ocean.

But Guðgeir will not let up. He is determined to find the mysterious woman, solve the case, and win back both his police career and his family.
