In shackles

Mariam grew up in a refugee camp in Sudan. Her Muslim father died when she was six, and her mother raised her in the Christian faith. Mariam became a successful businesswoman, married the man she loved, and gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. In 2013, however, she was accused of violating Sharia law by marrying a Christian man as a "Muslim by birthright," and was given a choice: either renounce her marriage and her child and embrace Islam, or be sentenced to death by hanging.

"Shackled" is the true story of a courageous woman who was willing to face death rather than deny her faith in Jesus. Mariam tells of her life under Islamic Sharia law, from her imprisonment and giving birth in chains to the international outcry that ultimately allowed her to escape death.
