Mexico in the 1990s isn't the best time to be a woman in the film industry. Montserrat is an experienced sound editor, yet she constantly has to fight for work with her male colleagues at Antares studio. Her best friend, Tristán Abascal, isn't having much luck either—a washed-up telenovela star who's more likely to stumble over a bottle than a new role.
But then Tristán learns that the cult horror director Abel Urueta has moved in next door, and he decides to get to know him. The filmmaker claims he can change his new friends' lives. All they have to do is help him finish a film he once shot with the assistance of the occultist Wilhelm Ewers.
Montserrat doesn't believe in the supernatural—at least not until she and Tristán start being haunted by a spectre from a mirror and the ghost of a famous actress. To escape them, they must solve the mystery of the cursed film. However, Ewers's worshippers enter the picture, and they soon discover that bloody rituals and black magic aren't just for the silver screen…
