The boy who saw in the dark
For one boy, seeing differently means seeing more...
Jēkabs is a boy born into an unconventional family. But he still wants to be like everyone else – riding his bike around his house, playing on his Game Boy, taking care of a kitten, wearing a stylish jacket, swimming in the lake and sending love texts to Liene.
My parents are blind. That's nothing special. It's just the way it is. And it's always been that way. Who knows, maybe someone at the huge entrance gate to this world pointed out contractual clause no. X written in small print, but that's not important. What's important is that thanks to them, I was special. Me! Special! Special because I could see in the dark.
The Boy Who Saw in the Dark is one of the most distinctive works of modern Latvian literature.
