The B850 MAX GAMING WIFI W motherboards are designed for AMD Ryzen 9000 series processors. The board uses an AM5 socket for AMD Ryzen desktop processors and features an 8+2+1 phase digital power design with discrete MOSFETs to ensure efficient and stable power delivery to the CPUs. The six-layer PCB provides enhanced stability and overclocking. The board supports four DIMM slots with dual-channel DDR5 and AEMP technology for higher memory performance. Expansion slots include 1× PCIe 5.0 x16 SafeSlot, 1× PCIe 4.0 x16 and 2× PCIe 3.0 x16.

The B850 MAX GAMING WIFI W offers a total of three M.2 slots, one of which supports data transfer speeds of up to 128Gb/s via PCIe 5.0 and two support PCIe 4.0. For basic modules without EXPO support, the ASUS Enhanced Memory Profile automatically detects memory chips and provides optimised profiles for higher performance. The board offers extensive support for AMD's extended profiles for overclocking and a whole range of UEFI settings for further performance tuning. This is complemented by four SATA 6Gb/s ports.
Connectivity
The rear panel includes a DisplayPort, an HDMI port, 1× USB 10Gb/s Type-C, 3× USB 10Gb/s Type-A, 2× USB 5Gb/s Type-A, 2× USB 2.0 Type-A, 2.5Gb Ethernet, WiFi 6E, a BIOS FlashBack button and 3× audio jacks. Integrated WiFi 6E technology uses the available radio spectrum in the 6GHz band and, with three 2.4/5/6GHz bands, provides ultra-fast wireless connectivity with higher capacity. Front connectors include 1× USB 5Gb/s header, 1× USB 5Gb/s connector, 1× Thunderbolt header and 3× USB 2.0 headers.
Cooling and features
The B850 MAX GAMING WIFI W motherboard is equipped with several integrated heatsinks to help ensure a cool and stable build. VRM heatsinks with thermal pads, an M.2 heatsink and a passive chipset heatsink ensure efficient heat dissipation from key components. The board offers a range of hybrid fan headers, including a CPU fan header, CPU OPT fan header, AIO pump fan header and three chassis fan headers. Each header supports auto-detection of PWM or DC fans. ASUS Fan Xpert 2+ software provides comprehensive control over the fans with an auto-tuning mode. The board includes a pre-mounted I/O shield to protect the ports and improve the build's appearance, a BIOS FlashBack function for simplified BIOS updates, and three addressable Gen 2 headers.
