The EATON UPS 3S 700 DIN Gen2 backup power supply uses off-line topology and provides an apparent power of 700VA, or a real power of 420W. In addition to backing up the power supply, it protects connected devices from power surges. It has eight Schuko output sockets for connection, four of which are fully battery-backed and four offer only surge protection. The compact tower design is suitable for freestanding placement in the home or office, where it won't disturb you thanks to its quiet operation at under 25dB. A USB port with HID compatibility is used for communication with a computer, which does not require driver installation for basic functions. Eaton UPS Companion software is designed for advanced management. The application controls safe system shutdown, monitors energy consumption and configures UPS settings.

Performance and off-line topology

The EATON UPS 3S 700 DIN Gen2 backup power supply uses off-line topology, powering appliances directly from the mains and filtering surges during normal operation. It automatically switches to battery power during a power failure. The total apparent power is 700VA and the real power is 420W. It achieves 98% efficiency at full load. The 230V input voltage can be configured in the range of 184–264V or 161–284V at a frequency of 46–70Hz.

Battery and protective features

The EATON UPS 3S 700 DIN Gen2 backup power supply is powered by a sealed lead-acid 12V/7Ah battery, which the user can replace themselves if necessary. Integrated mechanisms take care of its lifespan, specifically deep discharge protection and an automatic function test. The cold start function starts the power supply even without mains power. In addition to backup, the UPS also provides surge protection for all connected devices and specific protection for a telephone or DSL line via an RJ-11 connector.

Design and connectivity

The EATON UPS 3S 700 DIN Gen2 backup power supply has a compact tower design for freestanding placement on the floor or a desk. The dimensions are 83.5 ×170 × 335mm and it weighs 4.2kg. Quiet operation with noise levels below 25dB at a distance of one metre won't disturb you, even in a quiet office or home environment. The device is designed to operate at a relative humidity of 0–85% without condensation. The power supply connects to the mains with a 1.5-metre cable with a Schuko plug. Eight Schuko sockets are available for appliances, divided into four fully battery-backed and four with surge protection only. Two USB ports are used for charging mobile devices.
