Imagine a power outage just before you wanted to save your work. The unsaved work is irretrievably lost, and you have to start all over again. Such catastrophic scenarios can be warded off by the nJoy Aster 1K backup source, or UPS. This hardware is practically a large battery that provides power for all devices that need electricity. The nJoy Aster 1K UPS has the Online with double conversion design approach. Off-line is the most basic form. The line interactive UPS enhances the simpler off-line version of voltage regulation. The most complex system is the double conversion online UPS, where the primary power path is the inverter instead of the mains.

A key attribute is the UPS run time during outages. This is governed by the power consumption of the connected devices – for example, at half-load (50%), the backup time can last up to three times as long. The load of the backup source defines the operating time, which at full load is 3,63 min and at half the energy consumption, it is 10,13 min. It is therefore necessary to determine the power consumption of the connected computers, monitors and other electronics and ideally to have a bit of energy extra left. The nJoy Aster 1K specifies the apparent power as 1000, but in reality, the actual power usage is 900 W.
