In the forest hangs an angel
A brilliant Norwegian detective story hiding a horrific secret
Holger Munch loves classical music, mathematical puzzles, and smoking cigarettes. He is also a police detective. He is already preparing for retirement, where he will enjoy all of these things, but Norway is being shaken by the strange murders of six-year-old girls, who are being dressed in white dresses and left in the forest with a sign around their necks saying "I'm travelling alone".
Munch must therefore take charge of a special unit and, most importantly, convince Mia Krüger, a famous investigator, to return to duty. Will he succeed? Can Mia "Moonbeam", as the Norwegian media have nicknamed her, solve a case full of symbols and dead ends? The killer is clearly toying with the detectives, and the whole of Norway can only fear that another little angel will appear in the forest.
Reviews of the book:
A completely brilliant Norwegian detective story that has everything you could wish for in a good story. Believable and engaging characters. An immensely suspenseful plot that hides a horrific secret. And an unexpectedly impressive depiction of the various places where the story unfolds, which creates a very pleasing contrast between the urban scenes and those set in the countryside.
- Aftonbladet (Sweden)
One is almost tempted to call this book a textbook of the modern detective story. This is how it should be done! (...) All the necessary ingredients are there, and they are mixed with absolute brilliance.

The pseudonym Samuel Bjork hides the successful Norwegian writer, playwright, singer and songwriter Frode Sander Oien (b. 1969). He wrote his first play at the age of twenty-one, and since then has published two highly acclaimed novels, Pepsi Love (2001) and Speed for Breakfast (2009), in addition to other plays, has recorded six music albums, is also involved in fine art, and translates Shakespeare. His first detective story, I'm Travelling Alone (2013), became an instant hit throughout Scandinavia. Subsequently, this multi-layered and elaborate detective novel, in which he introduces the detective duo Holger Munch and Mia Krüger, sparked a huge wave of international interest. It is being translated into twenty-five world languages, including Hebrew and Japanese. And wherever it has been published so far, readers have welcomed it with enthusiasm. In the Netherlands, it was sold out in pre-sales and was described as the thriller of the year; it stayed on the German Der Spiegel bestseller list for over three weeks and was also a great success in its Spanish edition. And thousands of Mia and Holger's fans can already look forward to the sequel, with the second part of the series, titled The Owl, to be published in Norwegian this year.
